Power outages throughout Baton Rouge may leave some students preparing for Monday classes in the dark.Edward Gay Apartments and portions of West Lakeshore Drive, including Sorority Row, remain without electricity. Electricity was restored via Entergy to the majority of campus Thursday evening, but areas of campus which are part of residential zones remain in the dark.University officials have been working with closely with Entergy to restore power to the remainder of campus, and classes are still scheduled to resume Monday said Kristine Calongne, University spokeswoman. “We really can’t afford to miss many more days,” Calongne said.
Campus has air conditioning for students to relax, electricity where students can do school work and study and vending machines for personal convenience, Calongne said.”If you don’t have power, all the more reason to come to campus because we do have power,” Calongne said.
Calongne also said most of the campus dining operations — with the exception of the Union Tiger Lair — should be up and running by Monday. She said Tiger Lair is expecting a delivery of food Monday morning.—-Contact Lindsey Meaux at [email protected]
