ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistan’s military chief says his country’s sovereignty will be defended “at all costs” after a raid by U.S. ground troops near the border with Afghanistan. In a statement issued Wednesday, Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani says the U.S. raid last week killed innocent civilians and was carried out in violation of agreements between Pakistan and the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan. Such strikes would only fuel militancy and create mistrust among allies fighting terrorism, Kayani says.
