The LSU football team moved up one spot to No. 6 in the latest Associated Press poll and USA Today Coaches’ poll, released Sunday.The Tigers had been ranked No. 7 in the preseason AP rankings, as well as the first two polls of the regular season.LSU also regained the No. 6 spot in the coaches’ poll after spending a week at No. 7. The Tigers opened the coaches’ poll at No. 6 before falling to No. 7 last week following a postponement because of Hurricane Gustav.USC tightened up its lead atop the polls, receiving 61 and 57 first-place votes in the AP and coaches’ polls, respectively.
Oklahoma is second in each poll, and preseason No. 1 Georgia dropped to No. 3 in both after a sloppy 14-7 win Saturday against South Carolina.Ohio State, which lost 35-3 to USC, dropped from No. 5 in each poll to No. 13 and No. 14 in the AP and coaches’ polls, respectively.
Missouri moved up from No. 6 to No. 5 in each poll.
