University officials released a preliminary damage list of campus Tuesday morning.
Here’s a look at the findings and some important information from the University.
· There is water and roof damage to many campus buildings.· Power is out to a majority of campus buildings; some exceptions are the Fieldhouse – currently on generator power and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center – powered by the co-generation plant. Both the Fieldhouse and PMAC are currently serving as shelters for persons with special/medical needs. Regarding the rest of campus, the LSU co-generation plant is nearly fully back online, and will reenergize 60-80 percent of campus.· Trees, tree limbs, and other debris are currently clogging campus streets.· Students who are on campus are being encouraged to continue sheltering in place, as weather conditions are still potentially dangerous and there is debris on campus streets, which is also potentially dangerous.· The university will have the 459 Commons dining hall open as soon as possible.· LSU’s first priority is always the safety of its students, employees, and guests to campus.· Campus “co-gen” is able to power a limited number of buildings, but powering the entire campus is dependent on Entergy.
