LSU senior linebacker Darry Beckwith did not practice Tuesday, and coach Les Miles said Beckwith and the team will take advantage of the bye week to recover from injuries before facing Florida on Oct. 11.”Beckwith is very possible — if not likely [to play] — for Florida,” Miles said.Beckwith, who has missed the past two games with a left knee injury, said he will be held out of practice all this week.”I’ll probably come back next week again and just continue to get my treatment and rehab and get better,” he said. “I will be ready [for Florida].”Sophomore quarterback Andrew Hatch also returned to practice Tuesday, and Miles said he was pleased with Hatch’s work.”He looked great,” Miles said. “One thing about him taking time off is that his arm is awfully fresh. He threw some nice balls today.”Hatch didn’t play Saturday against Mississippi State after suffering a concussion Sept. 20 against Auburn. He said he was excited to be out on the field again after not practicing last week.”It felt really good to get back out there and get started again,” Hatch said. “They just really wanted me to take it easy and heal up as fast as possible.”Miles also said he expects senior defensive tackle Charles Alexander and junior defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois to be ready for Florida after both left the Mississippi State game with injuries. Alexander left the game after a Mississippi State offensive lineman rolled over his ankle, and he briefly returned in the fourth quarter. Jean-Francois suffered a groin injury and did not return. Miles said the team won’t prepare the “rigid game plan” it would if there was a game this weekend, but he said overall the bye week is not too different than a normal week.He said having a week off won’t affect the momentum the team established after winning four straight games — including two conference wins — to open the season.”We’re finding new pieces, guys that are doing different things,” Miles said. “We just wish we had another off week later. If we played Troy at another time, that would be great, but that didn’t happen.”—-Contact Rachel Whittaker at [email protected]
