Chancellor Michael Martin, during the filming of a television broadcast message for students, said Saturday’s 10 a.m. football game with Appalachian State would not interfere with the University’s preparations for Tropical Storm Gustav.”We’re going to ask people to get into the stadium, cheer for the tigers and then try to disperse as quickly as possible,” Martin said. Martin said assisting the state, sticking to tradition and playing football are the top priorities for Saturday. “That may strike you as a little odd, but we wanted to make sure we had all our friends and fans off of campus and out of harm’s way,” Martin said. The Emergency Operations Center, Martin said, is ready to manage campus.Martin said 459 Commons will remain open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday to provide for students remaining on campus.
