NEW ORLEANS (AP) – A man convicted of stabbing a plainclothes New Orleans policeman gets life in prison as a multiple offender, rather than his original 43-year sentence.Forty-two-year-old Willie Price was convicted in June of attempted second-degree murder and attempted simple robbery of the officer and his brother. He got 40 years for attempted murder and three for attempted robbery. At a multiple offender hearing Monday, Criminal District Court Judge Lynda Van Davis vacated that sentence and resentenced Price to life at hard labor for attempted murder, and seven years for attempted robbery. The attempted holdup occurred outside a restaurant the night of August 29, 2007.District Attorney Robert Freeman Junior said he is very satisfied that a violent repeat offender is off the street.—-Contact The Daily Reveille’s news staff at [email protected]
