LSU coach Paul Mainieri said Ryan Verdugo will start on the mound when the Tigers face North Carolina on Sunday night, the Associated Press reported today.
Verdugo, a junior, is 9-3 this season with a 3.90 ERA.
North Carolina will counter with Alex White, who is 10-3 with a 2.75 ERA.
The matchup between the Tigers and the Tar Heels is the final opening round game of this year’s College World Series, which began today.
