LSU baseball coach Paul Mainieri said during today’s practice that associate head coach Terry Rooney is a candidate for the coaching vacancy at Central Florida.
Mainieri said Rooney, who is LSU’s pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, has interviewed for the position.
“Terry got interviewed for the job, and we’ll know more probably really late tonight or tomorrow morning about what’ll happen there,” Mainieri said.” He did get interviewed for the job, and I think he’s a very strong candidate for it.”
Rooney spent three seasons as pitching coach at Notre Dame before joining LSU along with Mainieri in the summer of 2006.
