NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Music superstar Kid Rock will serve as Grand Marshal and headline performer for the 2009 Endymion parade on Feb. 21.
That’s according City of Kenner Mayor Ed Muniz, the captain and founder of the more than 2,000-member krewe.
Rock, a Detroit native, is the raucous rap-rocker who morphed into a country-rock performer. He’s known for his improbable mix of Southern rock, blues- and country-tinged ballads, and hip-hop. He has sold 25 million records worldwide. He also became an international celebrity after his on-again, off-again engagement and marriage to Pamela Anderson, and their eventual breakup.
Mardi Gras falls on Feb. 24 next year.
