(AP) — Louisiana is the nation’s least healthy state, according to a new national ranking of states’ overall health. Louisiana had ranked 49th last year, but fell behind Mississippi in the report released Wednesday by United Health Foundation. To explain Louisiana’s dismal ranking, the organization pointed to the large percentage of uninsured residents, the large number of children who live in poverty and high rates of infant deaths, premature deaths, preventable hospitalizations and cancer deaths.—-Contact The Daily Reveille’s news staff at [email protected]
