Students with 10 bucks to spare, non-discriminating tastes and really strong stomachs may enjoy this new family restaurant. With a “Finding Nemo” mural surrounding them, patrons at the Drunken Fish may feel as if they actually are a drunken fish – which may be disturbing when they order the fried catfish ($4.75) or red-snapper po-boy ($5.50).
Our glasses were always full, and our silverware was spotless. The service is excellent, and the restaurant is pristine.
The prices are low, but in this case diners definitely get what they pay for.
Dishes such as the soft-shelled crab po-boy ($6.50), the grilled pork chops ($6) and the unusually membrane-like spring rolls ($3.50) are overloaded with salt and preservatives and may leave customers wishing they had saved their money.
The egg rolls ($3.50) were surprisingly good, but the menu was very limited.
Red and white wine by the glass ($2.25) and domestic beer ($2) will please those looking to catch a buzz on a budget.
This will not be your favorite place to eat, but take comfort in knowing you can at least eat off of the sparkling immaculate floor in the company of your favorite Disney character.
