The University chapter of Silver Wings, the Air Force ROTC support group, will end its reign of national headquarters on April 18.
The group, which performs community service and support, won the position at last year’s national conference.
Six members of the group ran as a ticket for the top offices and were elected by other chapters.
Mallory Mayeux, mass communication senior and national public affairs officer, said the group ran unopposed in 2005 but will not run again this year.
Mayeux said they will give another school the opportunity to lead the national organization.
In a news release, chapter President Jenna Hatty, political science senior and national development director, said the group has served on a local and national level this past year.
The group has helped charter seven new chapters and saw only one dissolve, Hatty said, compared to the average of four new chapters and five lost.
Mayeux said the group faced many challenges leading the national organization.
After Hurricane Katrina, Mayeux said there were financial problems to be solved.
“Being national staff has been a fantastic opportunity,” Mayeux said. “It has been more difficult than we anticipated.”
The national staff members who will turn over their positions are: President Elizabeth Rouillier, education senior; Vice President Michelle Hoover, mass communication junior; Secretary Stephanie Lampert, agriculture business junior; Treasurer Colby Landry, biochemistry sophomore; Regional Executive Officer Katrina Tabinowski, music junior; Mayeux and Hatty.
