This past Friday was not a normal halftime for the University High Cub’s football team.
At halftime of the school’s home opener against Vidalia, Chancellor Sean O’Keefe, Athletic Director Skip Bertman, Jeff Boss’s wife Karen and former University football coach Jerry Stovall were present as the field was dedicated in name to the former University employee, Jeff Boss, who died from a brain tumor almost three years ago.
The ceremony was originally scheduled for September of last year, but because of Hurricane Katrina was forced back a year.
The decision and work to dedicate the field was not done by one individual but rather a community effort.
