A barge caught fire after hitting the Mississippi River bridge in Vicksburg, Miss. at 8:59 Thursday night, according to an Associated Press report.
The AP said no official reports were made of crewmen jumping in the water.
The U.S. Coast Guard responded to the I-20 accident and said there were no injuries, the AP said.
A string of barges, caught 20 miles downstream two-and-a-half hours after the accident, were carrying a crude oil that caused the fire after impact, the AP said.
The barges are said to be owned by Florida Marine, according to the AP report.
The AP reported that both the railroad bridge and I-20 closed but I-20 has since reopened. No reports have confirmed an oil spill into the river.
