Student Government prepares to make its second bus trip of the semester to an away game and provides transportation to the LSU v. Alabama game for about 45 students.
Each person riding the charter bus Saturday had to pay $70. The fee includes transportation costs, a meal and T-shirt, but not a ticket to the game.
“It really is a lot of fun, and we keep it organized,” said Dixon McMakin, SG director of athletics.
Instead of taking one bus trip each year, SG is providing transportation to at least three away games this season. Unlike past bus trips, student fees will not be used to cover the costs.
Tiger Trips, formerly known as Travelin’ Tigers, transported students to the Tulane game in New Orleans on Sept. 21. The next trip is scheduled on Nov. 17 for the Ole Miss game in Oxford, Miss.
“We do this a lot, and we basically have everything under control,” said Chris Lanuis, SG chief of staff operations.
The bus should arrive about two hours before kick-off at Bryant-Denny Stadium and leave 45 minutes after the game ends.
Students who attend the bus trip are required to sign a waiver that states that the sponsor, LSU and the bus system are not responsible for the actions or decisions of students.
“The students are off on their own at the game,” Lanius said. “They are in charge, and we hope they act responsibly.”
