Life away from the PMAC has been unkind as of late for the LSU volleyball team. After winning three straight home matches, the Tigers (18-6, 9-5) returned to the road this past weekend and dropped two matches, falling to No. 10 Florida in three games and unranked South Carolina in five. The losses marked LSU’s fourth straight on the road. Two weekends ago, the Tigers lost matches at Tennessee and Kentucky, the same teams LSU will face this weekend in the PMAC. LSU is now two matches behind Alabama (14-9, 11-3) in the SEC West standings with six conference matches remaining. The Tigers won the first game of their match against South Carolina, 30-27. The Gamecocks won games two and three, 30-26 and 30-24, before LSU tied the match with a 30-27 game four victory. Game five was tied at 8-8 before South Carolina won seven of the final nine points of the match to win the final game, 15-10. LSU had 17 service errors in the match, while South Carolina finished with only six. Friday night, Florida swept LSU and extended its regular season home winning streak to 23 matches. The Gators have lost only six matches since coach Mary Wise began leading the program in 1991. For the weekend, junior outside hitter Kyna Washington led the Tigers with 33 kills. Sophomore middle blocker Brittnee Cooper led LSU with six blocks over the weekend.
