Michael Bonnette, LSU sports information director, said softball coach Yvette Girouard had “nothing to say” Wednesday in response to allegations that juniors Vanessa Soto and Tayl’r Hollis have been dismissed from the team.
WJBO Radio reported Tuesday morning the two were dismissed.
Softball Sports Information Director Melissa Foley said the athletic department had “no comment” on the situation.
Neither Girouard or Soto returned phone calls by press time.
Hollis started at third base and Soto split time between first and second base during the No. 10 Tigers’ run to the NCAA super regionals.
LSU dropped two games to Arizona State University to end its season.
Soto hit .281 with three home runs and 29 RBI while Hollis batted .271 with five home runs and 24 RBI.
Junior Erika Sluss would be the returning front runner to replace Soto and freshman Lindsey Hope is the leading candidate to fill in for Hollis.
