The First Circuit Court of Appeal decided today that state Sen. Cleo Fields cannot seek another term in the Oct. 20 election, according to The Advocate.
A group of lawyers challenged Fields’ candidacy Sept. 10, citing state term limits prohibiting legislators from seeking re-election after serving more than 2 1/2 terms.
A 7-5 vote reversed state District Judge Don Johnson’s ruling that allowed Fields’ candidacy.
Court bars Fields from running in re-election — 12:15 p.m.
