LSU football coach Les Miles has no plans to further suspend reserve linebacker Derrick Odom III, who was arrested Monday night on a misdemeanor charge of simple criminal damage to property.
The arrest was Odom’s second in less than a month. Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette said after Tuesday’s practice that Miles was aware of the Sept. 1 parking lot disturbance shortly after it occurred.
Bonnette said Odom served an extra two weeks of suspension, in addition to the original suspension for his late-August charges of simple assault, attempted unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling and two counts of simple criminal damage to property.
“Coach Miles met with both Derrick and the owner of the vehicle once the incident was brought to his attention,” Bonnette said through a written statement. “After learning exactly of what happened, Derrick served an additional two weeks suspension from the team for his involvement. Any other disciplinary action taken against Derrick will be handled internally.”
