The University’s dubious reputation as a party school may be in danger after another slip in the Princeton Review’s annual list of party colleges.
After a brief rise to No. 8 in this past year’s ranking, the University fell to 13th place in the most recent review.
The rankings were released Tuesday in the Review’s 366 Colleges: 2008 Edition and are accessible online. The data was collected through an unscientific survey covering more than 120,000 students in the 366 schools. The surveys were conducted primarily over the 2006-2007 school year. The survey consisted of 80 questions which led to rankings in 62 categories.
Since ranking as the top party school in 2001, the University’s standing in that category has slowly dropped, hovering in the top 20 for the past six years. West Virginia University rose from third place in the 2007 edition to take the No. 1 spot this year.
The University placed in the top 20 for three other rankings, including second place for “Lots of Hard Liquor,” 10th place for “Class Discussions Rare” and 12th place for “Best College Newspaper.”
