LSU offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher has accepted the offensive coordinator position at Florida State University.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to come to Florida State University,” Fisher said in a Florida State news release. “I’ve always had great respect for Florida State and utmost respect for Coach [Bobby] Bowden. The opportunity to coach at Florida State and to grow as a coach under Coach Bowden was one that I could not pass up.”
Michael Bonnette, LSU sports information director, said Fisher told the “appropriate people” at LSU about his decision. Bonnette said he was waiting to speak with LSU coach Les Miles before releasing any further information.
“I’m very happy that Jimbo will be joining our staff, and I could not be more excited about the future of our program,” Bowden said. “I’ve followed Jimbo’s career for a long time, and his ability to put in an offense and adjust as the season goes along is second to none. He brings the experience and attitude that I was looking for in a coordinator.”
Fisher will replace former Florida State offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden, who resigned Nov. 14.
In his seven years at LSU, Fisher coached five LSU quarterbacks who were drafted into the NFL — Josh Booty, Rohan Davey, Craig Nall, Matt Mauck and Marcus Randall, who entered the NFL as a defensive back.
