It seems rumors about football coach Les Miles being a candidate for the vacant coaching job at Michigan won’t stop until the position is filled.
The Detroit Free Press reported today that Miles received a call from Michigan athletic director Bill Martin and school president Mary Sue Coleman.
Last week, Miles signed a new contract after it was amended by the Board of Supervisors. The amended version extends his contract through 2012 with the option to extend it an additional two years.
“I very much appreciate this contract extension,” Miles told the Board. “I look forward to many years as the LSU head coach.”
LSU Athletic Director Skip Bertman told the Free Press he does not see Miles leaving as a realistic option.
“He and Bo Schembechler were real close,” Bertman told the Free Press. “If Bo Schembechler were alive I doubt he could have got him to go to Michigan. It’s hard for people who don’t live in the South to understand.”
