BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Federal authorities have arrested three Texas men for allegedly transporting more than 15 pounds of cocaine priced at $182,000 for a Baton Rouge buyer.
FBI Special Agent Antony A. Jung said the cocaine and cash were seized Friday.
The three defendants were charged Tuesday in a federal complaint with possession of cocaine in amounts for which conviction would carry an automatic prison term of at least 10 years. They are 19-year-old Jonathan Beltran, of Eagle Pass, Texas, and 20-year-old Melesio Noyola and 21-year-old Christopher Robles, both of Lufkin, Texas.
The FBI says Robles was arrested in possession of a loaded .40-caliber pistol.
If Robles is prosecuted and convicted on the firearm charge, authorities say the conviction automatically would add five years to any prison term on the drug charge.
