The LSU men’s basketball team may once again fight the injury bug Wednesday night against Vanderbilt. Sophomore point guard Bo Spencer and senior forward Quintin Thornton both missed practice Monday with different ailments. LSU coach Trent Johnson said both could miss Wednesday night’s home finale. “Bo Spencer has a slight wrist sprain, so we held him out today,” Johnson said. “Quintin Thornton took a blow versus Kentucky. It’s a slight concussion so he did not go today. We’ll check on him tomorrow.” Spencer’s injury is to his right wrist – his shooting hand – prompting Johnson to label him “day-to-day.” “Sprained wrists are delicate, and for him not be able to practice – I am worried,” Johnson said. “We’ll see … but it’s not good.” Wednesday could be the second time in the past few weeks Spencer has missed playing time. The ankle sprain he suffered Feb. 11 against Mississippi State caused him to miss games against Ole Miss and Arkansas. Sophomore forward Garrett Green – in the middle of a redshirt season – also addressed injury issues Monday. Green had surgery to mend the back pain that forced him to sit out the 2009 season. Johnson reported there were no complications. —- Contact David Helman at [email protected]
