The No. 3 seed Louisville women’s basketball team earned its place in the second round of the NCAA tournament Sunday night and defeated Liberty 62-42, thanks to balanced scoring and a late first-half surge.The Cardinals used a 24-9 run during the last 10 minutes of the first half to take a 35-17 halftime lead.Freshman guard Becky Burke led the offense for Louisville and scored 10 first half points.The Cardinals picked up where they left off in the second half and went on a 12-3 run out of the locker room to put the game away.Three Louisville players scored in double figures for the game, led by seniors Angel McCoughtry and Candyce Bingham who scored 12 points.The Cardinals advance to the Round of 32 where they will play LSU.Louisville is 2-0 against Southeastern Conference teams with wins against Alabama and Kentucky.
