LSU softball coach Yvette Girouard said Tuesday that LSU junior outfielder Rachel Mitchell will be out at least Wednesday night against Southern Miss and possibly the weekend series against No. 13 Tennessee.
Girouard said the LaPorte, Texas, native sprained her ankle “pretty badly” rounding third base at practice yesterday.
“I’m hoping she isn’t out of the lineup very long,” Girouard said.
Mitchell was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week and National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Player of the Week two weeks ago.
Mitchell is third on the team with a .304 batting average and is second on the team with a .429 on base percentage.
