LSU junior guard Allison Hightower was named a finalist for the 2009 State Farm Coaches All-America team, the LSU Athletic Department announced Wednesday.
Hightower, an Arlington, Texas, native, led the Lady Tigers in points, assists, steals and blocks per game this season. She is the first player in school history to accomplish that feat.
Hightower scored a career-high 26 points against Wisconsin-Green Bay in LSU’s 69-59 win Sunday.
Five other Southeastern Conference players were named finalists. They are Auburn senior guards Whitney Boddie and DeWanna Bonner, Georgia junior guard Ashley Houts, Florida senior guard Sha Brooks and Vanderbilt senior forward Christina Wirth.
