LSU men’s basketball coach Trent Johnson was named to Yahoo Sports writer Jason King’s “All-Coaches” team, the LSU athletic department announced Thursday.Johnson has led LSU to a 25-5 record and a Southeastern Conference regular season championship in his first season as the Tigers’ coach. Bill Self of Kansas, Craig Robinson of Oregon State, Mike Anderson of Missouri and Leonard Hamilton of Florida State were also named to the team.Senior guard Marcus Thornton and junior forward Tasmin Mitchell were also named All-District players by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, according to the athletic department. Thornton made the first team for District 21, while Mitchell made the second team.Other SEC players on the first team were Nick Calathes of Florida, Jodie Meeks of Kentucky, Devan Downey of South Carolina and Tyler Smith of Tennessee.Jarvis Varnado of Mississippi State, Patrick Patterson of Kentucky, David Huertas of Ole Miss and Michael Washington of Arkansas made the second team along with Mitchell.
