The No. 35 LSU men’s tennis team was defeated by No. 15 Texas A&M, 4-3, on Saturday at George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas. Sophomores Sebastian Carlsson and Julien Gauthier took the only win in doubles competition for LSU. The Tiger duo defeated Marcus Lunt and Calon Alpar, 9-8. But Texas A&M took the doubles point, winning two out of three doubles matches. In singles competion, LSU’s No. 9 ranked senior Michael Venus scored the Tiger’s first point beating No. 16 Connor Pollock in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Gauthier made the score 2-1 after defeating A&M’s Kayvon Karimi, 6-1, 6-0. But the Tigers could not hold on. The Aggies won the next three of four singles matches to clinch the match, 4-3. LSU did prevail in the last match as freshman Neal Skupski took down Alexey Grigorov 7-6, 2-6, 7-6. —- Contact Tyler Harvey at [email protected]
