The LSU softball team’s season has been characterized by rain delays and canceled games. Seven games have been canceled or rained out, and numerous have been rain delayed since the Tigers’ game against Sam Houston St. was rain-delayed Feb. 14. A month later, the Tigers (15-6,2-2) still feel mother nature’s wrath as Saturday’s second game against Georgia (16-4, 1-2) was postponed because of inclement weather. The Tigers were trailing the Bulldogs, 4-3, in the top of the fourth inning before the delay. LSU junior outfielder Rachel Mitchell was at the plate with bases loaded and one out when the game was stopped. The game will be resumed Sunday at 10 a.m. at the UGA Softball Complex in Athens, Ga. The Bulldogs held off a late rally by the Tigers in game one to capture a 6-5 win. LSU managed to score two runs in the seventh inning but left the bases loaded, giving the Bulldogs the win. —- Contact Jarred LeBlanc at [email protected]
