The No. 9 LSU women’s golf team finished the second day of the LSU Golf Classic in sixth place after shooting a 9-over par 297 for an overall score of 8-over 584. LSU was in a tie with No. 13 North Carolina after the first day. The Lady Tigers are going without their No. 1 player, sophomore Megan McChrystal, who is out with an illness. No. 3 Virginia switched places with No. 12 Wake Forest from yesterday to take a commanding lead after the second day at 4-under 572, shooting a 1-under 287 on the day. Wake Forest is in second at 4-over 580 after shooting 8-over 296 on the day. Freshman Jaqueline Hedwall is still the highest Lady Tiger on the leaderboard, following her day one performance of 4-under 68 with a 2-over 74 on the day. No. 26 Arkansas, No. 40 Tulane and No. 13 North Carolina are in third, fourth and fifth, respectively. The field was soaked but teams managed to finish play in the shotgun-style format, allowing for a quicker finish in case of rain delays. The LSU Golf Classic is scheduled to finish up tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. at the Univeristy Club, barring inclement weather. —- Contact Rowan Kavner at [email protected]
