BATON ROUGE (AP) — Officials at the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality say they are looking into shutting down an in-house laboratory or sharing lab and operating costs with other state agencies to save money. DEQ undersecretary Vince Sagnibene says the in-house laboratory has become a luxury the department can no longer afford. Sagnibene says sharing a laboratory or closing the current DEQ lab will not only be a more efficient use of money, but will also help prevent DEQ from having to lay off employees.——Contact The Daily Reveille’s news staff at [email protected]
