Women drinking only one drink per day could be increasing their risks of cancer, according to a seven year study conducted by researchers at the University of Oxford. The study involving more than one million women helped disprove the idea of one glass of wine per day being healthy for the body. “Consuming alcohol has risks to it,” said Kathryn Saichuk, Wellness Education Coordinator at the University Health Center. “How much of a risk depends on genetic makeup.” The study showed for every additional drink consumed in a day, the estimated health risk was 11 cases of breast cancer for every 1,000 women.
