The LSU men’s golf team has moved into the national rankings for the first time this season, the LSU athletic department announced Thursday. LSU is No. 20 in both the Golfstat Top 25 poll and the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. Six other Southeastern Conference schools are in each of the polls – Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Arkansas. The Tigers won the John Hayt Invitational at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., last week by eight strokes, catapulting them into the national rankings. Sophomore John Peterson won the individual title, the first male LSU golfer to win an individual crown since Beck Troutman in 2005. LSU’s next tournament is the Schenkel/E-Z-Go Invitational on March 20-22 at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga. —- Contact The Daily Reveille’s sports staff at [email protected]
