Senior field athlete Rabun Fox and senior gymnast Lauren Klein have been nominated for the H. Boyd McWhorter post-graduate scholarship, the LSU Athletic Department announced Thursday.
The scholarship goes to Southeastern Conference athletes who display exceptional academic talent and community service.
One male and one female student-athlete from each Southeastern Conference school are nominated for the award. One athlete of each gender will be named the winners April 6.
Fox, a kinesiology major with a 3.73 grade point average, is a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member.
Fox competed in the weight throw indoors and is currently competing in the outdoor hammer throw.
He volunteered around the community, helping out with canned food drives after Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Gustav, according to a news release.
“Rabun is an outstanding young man, and he represents everything it means to be a student-athlete at LSU,” said LSU coach Dennis Shaver in a news release.
