The Student Government campaign season officially kicked off thisafternoon as four major tickets running for SG president andvice president simultaneously announced their candidacy.SG Sen. Gregg Upton and running-mate SG Executive Director Laura Boggs began theircampaign with some fanfare and a short speech in 145 Coates Hall.At the same time, the “Unity ‘09” ticket, headed by Ari Krupkin andMelanie Oubre, spoke to a small crowd of students in front of theStudent Union.Sen. Andy Palermo and SG Assistant Director of Finance Phoebe Hathornspoke in front of the clock tower, promoting the beginning of “TheNext Level” ticket.Simply touting the need for “more” for University students, StuartWatkins and Martina Scheuermann began their race inside Free SpeechPlaza.Each candidates said they welcome the coming challenge of the campaignseason and showed respect for their opponents.—-Contact Adam Duvernay at [email protected]
