LSU men’s basketball coach Trent Johnson has been named one of 12 finalists for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year award, the LSU Athletic Department announced Friday. The award is named after former Wake Forest coach Skip Prosser, who died suddenly on July 26, 2007. Prosser’s family and Collegeinsider.com established the award. Johnson is the only Southeastern Conference coach on the list. He has led LSU to a 25-5 overall record and a Southeastern Conference regular season championship in his first season in Baton Rouge. The winner will be announced at the Final Four in Detroit in early April. LSU will play Auburn on Saturday at 3 p.m. in both team’s regular-season finale.
