LSU middle blocker Britnee Cooper was named to the 2009 U.S. Women’s National A2 Team, the LSU Athletic Department announced Tuesday.
Tryouts for the team were held Feb. 20-22 in Colorado Springs. There were 160 players at the tryout.
“We’re extremely excited and proud of Brittnee,” said LSU coach Fran Flory in a news release. “Her being named to the U.S. Women’s National A2 Team is a tribute to her hard work. Getting a chance to train and play with those players for a couple of weeks will do nothing but good for her.”
Cooper was a first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection last season after compiling 226 kills with a .343 hitting percentage.
The Houston native was also on the 2008 USA A2 Red Team that won the Open Division Championship at the USA Adult Open Volleyball championships in June.
