LSU freshman pitcher has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year midseason watch list, the NCBWA announced Thursday.
The award is given to the top relief pitcher in Division I baseball and has been handed out since 2005.
Ott is one of four Southeastern Conference pitchers on the list. The others are Ole Miss senior Scott Bittle, Auburn junior Austin Hubbard and Georgia junior Dean Weaver.
Georgia’s Joshua Fields won the award last season.
Ott, a New Orleans native, is 2-1 on the season with a 2.70 ERA in 26 2/3 innings pitched. He has collected seven saves and 45 strikeouts in 18 appearances.
