The Agriculture Center reports crawfish season is slower this year because of drier seasons during the summer and fall of 2008.If the crawfish ponds don’t flood by November the harvest of younger crawfish will be delayed, said AgCenter crawfish researcher Ray McClain in a news release.”Colder-than-normal temperatures this winter may have prevented crawfish from growing normally,” McClain said in the release, explaining another reason for the slower season.AgCenter experts are saying the crawfish are still available, and the AgCenter has focused their research on the production and harvesting of crawfish and the environmental concerns related to crawfish production.—–Contact Joy Lukachick at [email protected]
