The University is planning to use tax credits to fund the remaining after fundraising failed to yield the sum necessary for the project, said Eli Jones, dean of LSU’s E.J. Ourso College of Business, according to an Advocate article.
Because the University is surrounded by low-income neighborhoods, it qualifies for the federal New Market Tax Credit Program, Jones said in the article.
“We’re in a good ZIP code,” Jones said in the article. “The bad news is we’re in a low-income area. The good news is we’re in a low-income area.”
The funds will be used for the Business Education Complex, a project budgeted at $63 million.
