BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A pollster has testified he has no opinion on whether media coverage of the 2006 Olive Garden murder case has entirely corrupted the potential jury pool against murder suspect Tracy Young.
David Roach said, however, that three-fourths of the 401 parish residents he questioned in mid-March were aware of the case.
The 31-year-old Young is scheduled to stand trial Sept. 14 on a first-degree murder charge. Prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty if he is convicted as charged.
Young is accused of fatally shooting 21-year-old Aaron Arnold and wounding fellow Olive Garden employee Dionne Grayson in a parking lot behind the Baton Rouge restaurant on Sept. 8, 2006.
Young’s attorneys have filed a change of venue motion. District Judge Don Johnson on Tuesday did not rule on the defense request.
