Former LSU wide receiver Demetrius Byrd is continuing to recover in a Miami area hospital, according to an LSU athletic department news release.
Byrd has regained the ability to walk and is eating on his own, according to the release. He is expected to start therapy at the week’s end.
Byrd was injured in a car crash two weeks ago in Miami and has been in Jackson Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit.
Doctors still expect Byrd to make a full recovery and say he is progressing ahead of schedule, according to the release.
Byrd was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the seventh round of the NFL draft last weekend.
