The No. 32 LSU men’s tennis team edged out Mississippi State, 4-2, this morning in a completed match at W.T. “Dub” Robinson Stadium.
The Tigers (8-10, 3-7) and the Bulldogs (6-13, 2-8) were tied 2-2 yesterday when the match was suspended because of inclement weather.
Freshman Neal Skupski and senior Jonathan Tragardh won their respective matches today, 6-7 (7-9), 6-2, 6-4, and 6-4, 2-6, 7-5, to secure the win for the Tigers.
At the time of the suspension yesterday, Skupski led Mississippi State’s Antonio Lastre, 4-2, in the second set after dropping the first set. Tragardh was tied with Tanner Stump, 3-3 in the third set.
Tragardh’s win on court six gave the Tigers an 3-2 advantage, and Skupski battled back to win the second and third sets on court four to clinch the victory for LSU.
LSU hosts Arkansas on Saturday at 12 p.m. in its last home match of the season before heading to the Southeastern Conference tournament April 23.
