Strawberry farmers in south Louisiana have experienced heavy losses as a result of recent rainy weather.
Regina Bracy, resident coordinator at the LSU AgCenter’s Hammond Research Station, said in a news release growers are experiencing bruised, discolored and cracked berries as a result of recent cool, damp and rainy weather.
According to Bracy, fewer strawberries will be available at this year’s Ponchatoula Strawberry festival, running April 3 to April 5. —-Contact Steven Powell at [email protected]
