Calling the University’s current policy on class withdrawals too rigid, a new proposal seeks to revise the policy to allow for more flexibility with W’s.
Student Government created the proposal and it’s endorsed by the Faculty Senate.
Currently, University students are allowed three W’s during their first 29 credit hours. After that, they are allowed one W for approximately every 30 hours. The new proposal is a “3-2-1 tier system,” allowing three W’s during freshman and sophomore year, two during junior and senior year and one for the remaining time it takes a student to graduate.
If the resolution is approved by Academic Affairs, the new policy would most likely be implemented in fall 2010, said University Registrar Robert Doolos.—-Contact Ryan Buxton at [email protected]
