MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A federal judge in Minneapolis has denied a request by the NFL players’ union to put five player suspensions on hold while their case is appealed.
Union attorney Jeffrey Kessler says the judge’s decision doesn’t necessarily mean the players will miss any games because an appellate court could rule before the season starts.
Vikings defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams and three New Orleans Saints players received four-game suspensions for violating the NFL’s doping policy.
Those suspensions did not take effect while their cases were in federal court, but Judge Paul Magnuson ruled on the case last week. Both sides intend to appeal. Magnuson denied the union’s request on Friday.—-Contact The Daily Reveille sports staff at [email protected]
