Just more than a week ago, LSU pitchers Louis Coleman and Matty Ott took home All-Southeastern Conference honors as the Pitcher of the Year and Co-Freshman of the Year, respectively.On Thursday, the Tiger right-handers added even more illustrious honors to the trophy shelves by being named All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball.Coleman, a senior from Schlater, Miss., became the 18th LSU player named to the First Team in the last 22 seasons with his 11-2 record and 2.84 ERA.Coleman, who struck out 111 batters this season to just 19 walks, is also one of 30 semifinalists for the Golden Spikes Award for the nation’s top amateur baseball player.Ott struck out 61 batters, posted a 2.27 ERA and recorded an LSU record-tying 14 saves.The Metairie native is the first true freshman to earn All-America honors for the Tigers since pitcher Lane Mestepey made Collegiate Baseball’s Third Team.—-Contact The Daily Reveille sports staff at [email protected]
