The LSU softball team’s game against Sam Houston State has been postponed because of inclement weather.
The Tigers and Bearkats were in a scoreless tie after the top of the fourth before the game was stopped.
LSU once again went into extra innings Saturday against Texas A&M – this time with more favorable results. The Tigers (5-3) surrendered a 3-2 lead, fell behind, 5-3, and rallied for a 6-5 win all in the span of one inning to upset the No. 5 Aggies (6-3) on Saturday.
LSU lost to Ohio State, 2-0, on Friday in eight innings.Freshman shortstop Juliana Santos fueled LSU in regulation. Santos started the scoring in the first inning with an RBI double to score junior outfielder Jazz Jackson. Her solo home run in the fifth inning gave LSU a 3-2 lead and was the Tigers’ first home run in the new Tiger Park. Junior outfielder Rachel Mitchell also added a pair of RBI to the win. Mitchell’s first-inning single scored Santos for a 2-0 LSU lead, and her eighth-inning single past second base scored Jackson for the win. LSU may have found a solution to its pitching problems against the Aggies. Freshman pitcher Brittany Mack pitched all eight innings, allowing seven hits and striking out a career-high 13 batters. The win gives LSU a 1-1 mark in this weekend’s Easton Tiger Classic softball tournament. The second game of the Tigers’ doubleheader is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. against Sam Houston State.
